2020 Arab Union census
The All-Union Household and Commercial Census of 2020 (Arabic: إحصاء عموم الإتِّحاد للأسرة والتجارة لعام ٢٠٢٠ iḥṣāʾ ʿumūm al-ittiḥād lil-asrah wat-tijārah li-‘ām alfayn wa-‘ashrūn) was the sixth national decennial census in the Arab Union. Respondents were able to submit their response as early as 1 January 2020, with census day falling on 20 January 2020 (a holiday Monday), the last day on which responses could be submitted, with the tabulation, calculation and revision process finished and results published on the first Monday of February, in this case on 2 February 2020. The 2020 All-Union Census was conducted by the Central Bureau of Statistics, an independent agency of the government of the Arab Union.
This was the second decennial national census to include the option to respond online, in addition to traditional mail-in or in-person submission of a paper questionnaire, and the first allowing respondents to leave both "male" and "female" boxes unchecked and instead specify gender in writing, as opposed to previous editions which required choosing one. The 2020 census counted a total population of 449,319,377, representing an increase of just over 11% from the the population last counted in 2015. The next All-Union Census will take place in 2025.
