Ammunition and Explosives Corps (Royal Canadian Gendarmerie)
The Ammunition and Explosives Corps (RCG–AEC; Corps de l'ammunition et de l'éxplosifs, GRC–CAE) is a corps of the Royal Canadian Gendarmerie. In peacetime, the corps comes under the jurisdiction of Public Security Canada, and as such serves as the federal governments premier bomb disposal experts. In addition to providing explosives ordinance disposal (including emergency) services, the corps also keeps stock and inventory of all ammunition used by the Gendarmerie, and is responsible for ordering replacements of expired ordnance which it then goes on to dispose of safely. In war, the Ammunition and Explosives Corps acts as the forefront anti-mine and anti-IED force in the Canadian Forces, although the Army and Navy do possess similar teams of their own, which are often trained by Gendarmerie personnel or the Ammunition and Explosives Corps.
