Anchorage Metropolitan Area

The Anchorage Metropolitan Area is the entirety of urban agglomeration centred on Anchorage, the most populous city and largest port of the Canadian province of Alaska. While the city proper is home to approximately 855,700 people, the Anchorage Metropolitan Area has an estimated 2.21 million people, the Matanuska–Susitna Regional Municipality, an upper-tier municipality of which Anchorage is one of six lower-tier municipalities accounting for 1.77 million. An estimated population of 440,000 makes up the rest of the metropolitan area not within the boundaries of Matanuska–Susitna.
