Bab al-Mutasarref (Arabic: باب المتصرف bāb al-mutaṣarrif; lit. "Governor's Gate") is one of 15 districts of Nasseria, the federal capital of the Arab Union. Considered a central district constituting part of the urban core of the capital, Bab al-Mutasarref is home to Merbad Palace, headquarters of the Prime Minister of the Arab Union and by extension the government, both houses of the Arab Congress, and a large portion of other subordinate ministries' and agencies' headquarters. The district is also notably home to The district boundaries of Bab el-Mutasarref form a near-perfect triangle bounded by University Avenue on the southwest, Patrice Lumumba Avenue on the northwest, and El-Mutasarref Avenue to the east; its western end (where the first two avenues meet) constitutes Victory Square, arguably the most important and central public square in the capital city, surrounded by a roundabout intersecting six primary avenues (including the first two mentioned above). Due to the district's high concentration of government institutions, it contains the lowest population of the five districts which make up Nasseria's urban core, with a population of 33,290 according to the Arab Union census of 2020 (the most recent official census).
