The Bab el-Bahra massacre (Arabic: مذبحة باب البحرة madhbaḥat bāb al-baḥrah) was a massacre of Muslim Brotherhood members and their families in the Nasser City suburb of Bab el-Bahra on the night of 3–4 June 2018, carried out by so-called extraordinary squads composed of police and military personnel. The suburb was a stronghold of Muslim Brotherhood-led Islamist opposition to the Ba'athist government of the Arab Union. Entire neighbourhoods were destroyed, with the death toll is estimated at 33,000–36,000, nearly 20% of Bab el-Bahra's population.
