The Canada Public Service Commission (CPSC; French: Commission du Service public du Canada, CSPC) is an agency of the Canadian federal government which functions as Canada's civil service commission at the federal level, responsible for the recruitment, training, management and compensation of all employees of the Canadian federal government. While personnel of certain federal agencies, such as the RCMP or Canadian Forces, are employed directly by their organisation, the CPSC nevertheless is responsible for administering special compensation and benefits for these employees. The highest-ranking member and de jure head of the CPSC, the Director of the CPSC, serves ex officio as Cabinet Secretary in the Cabinet of Canada. As the office of Cabinet Secretary of Canada has many responsibilities of its own, most of the responsibilities of the Director of the CPSC is in fact delegated to the Deputy Director of the CPSC, who is regarded as the de facto head of the CPSC and thus Canada's federal public service.
