The Capital Regional Division is the most populous yet smallest by area of the six regional divisions by which the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) organises its operations and investigations. Each regional division has a Regional Headquarters, which is typically the largest police station in the regional division and home to the offices of the most senior officers commanding the respective regional division, including the Assistant Chief Constable (of which the OPP has seven, six each in charge of a particular regional division and one in charge of the province-wide division, the latter of which is headquartered at the main OPP headquarters in Toronto.

The Capital Regional Division encompasses the single-tier municipality of Toronto and most of the rest of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), specifically the upper-tier municipalities of Peel Region, York Region, Halton County and Durham County, each of which consist of several lower-tier municipalities and some (mostly rural or semi-rural) unincorporated communities. The Capital Regional Division borders the Golden Horseshoe Regional Division on all sides, except the south/southeast along Lake Ontario.
