The Deputy Governor of Syria (Arabic: نائب محافظ سوريا nā’ib muḥāfiẓ sūriyā) is the deputy head of government of the Syrian Arab Republic, and the second most senior member of the Governorate of Syria (after the Governor of Syria). The Deputy Governor is appointed by the Governor, and is responsible for directly supervising ministers and other Governorate members on behalf of the Governor as de facto chief of staff. In the event of the incumbent governor's incapacitation or resignation, the Deputy Governor becomes acting governor until a new governor is appointed. The current Deputy Governor of Syria is Ali Abdullah Ayyoub, in office since 30 August 2020.
