The Deputy Prime Minister of Canada (French: Premier(ière) ministre adjoint(e) du Canada) is the deputy head of government of the Canadian Republic, and the second-highest ranking member of the Cabinet of Canada, the highest executive body of the Canadian federal government, which is chaired by the Prime Minister of Canada (the head of government). The Deputy Prime Minister has a personal office at Ottawa's Privy Council Building, the headquarters and official meeting place of the Cabinet of Canada, which also houses the Prime Minister's office and the offices of other several other Cabinet members and clerks (with the exception of ministers, who each have their office at the headquarters of the executive department for which they are responsible).

The Deputy Prime Minister is responsible for liaising between the Prime Minister and the rest of the Cabinet, as well as acting on the Prime Minister's behalf when needed in order to allow the Prime Minister to attend important meetings, diplomatic functions, public events and political and social obligations, as well as to host foreign dignitaries and diplomats and make regular national addresses. The Deputy Prime Minister is first in the prime ministerial line of succession, meaning that the Deputy Prime Minister becomes Acting Prime Minister in the event of the death or incapacitation of the incumbent Prime Minister of Canada, until the appointment of a new Prime Minister following a new federal election. The Deputy Prime Minister is officially appointed by the President of Canada on advice of the Prime Minister, who is responsible for nominating the Deputy Prime Minister and all other Cabinet members.
