Golden Ears County is the least populated of the six counties which make up the Lower Mainland, home to an estimated 605,000 people. Its county seat and most populous municipality is Maple Ridge, home to over a third of the county's total population. Golden Ears County is named after a twin set of peaks known as the "Golden Ears", located in the mostly mountainous Golden Ears Provincial Park which occupies the northern half of the county, and is one of its main tourist attractions.
