The Government of British Columbia governs the Canadian province of British Columbia (BC). It is divided into an executive (the Executive Council of BC), legislative (the Assembly of BC) and judicial branch (the Supreme Court of BC and all lower appellate and district courts). Oftentimes, the term "Government of British Columbia" is used to refer specifically to the executive branch, namely the Executive Council of BC, which is led by the Premier of British Columbia, the province's head of government. BC's head of state is the Deputy President of British Columbia, which is a primarily ceremonial office, with virtually all executive power at the provincial level vested in the Premier of BC.
