Greater Victoria is a metropolitan area located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, one of Canada's 13 provinces and the only insular province in Western Canada. Home to approximately 1.55 million people, nearly half the total population of Vancouver Island, it is centred on Victoria, the provincial capital of Vancouver Island as well as its most populous city. Greater Victoria covers the majority of Esquimalt County and much of southern Saanich County.
