Iqaluit (Inuktitut syllabics: ᐃᖃᓗᐃᑦ [iqaluit]; lit. "place of many fish"; French pronunciation: [ikalɥi(t)]) is the capital and most populous municipality of the Canadian territory of Nunavut. With an estimated December 2020 population of 177,400, Iqaluit accounts for over one-third of the total population of Nunavut; its metropolitan population of 205,500 represents almost two-thirds of the Nunavut population.
