The Jordan Valley (Hebrew: עמק הירדן emek ha-yarden; Arabic: غور الأُردنّ ghūr al-urdunn) is a river valley in the Levant region of the Arab Union, situated between the republics of Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria. Defined by the course of the Jordan River, the Jordan Valley runs north–south and is relatively narrow across, with the exception of its southernmost portion which is home to the Dead Sea. With an elevation averaging between 200 and 400 meters below sea level, the Jordan Valley is the lowest valley on Earth.
