Jump to navigationJump to searchThe Mayor of Ottawa (French: Maire d'Ottawa) is the popularly elected head of government of the Ottawa Capital District Metropolis, and thus chair of the Ottawa Metropolitan Council. The Mayor of Ottawa is elected every four years in a popular election, and appoints the councillors in charge of the Metropolitan Council's various executive departments. The Mayor of Ottawa also formally appoints the chairperson of the local council of each of Ottawa's 16 boroughs, on advice of the borough's constituents. There is currently no limit to the number of terms the Mayor of Ottawa may serve consecutively.
