Middlesex County Council
The Middlesex County Council is the elected government of Middlesex County, Ontario. It consists of eleven councilmembers, also known as aldermen, who are responsible for formulating policy and overseeing the multiple executive departments of the county. Like most other counties of Ontario, the Middlesex County Council uses the council-manager system of government, meaning the elected council appoints an outside individual as County Manager, who is responsible for day-to-day executive decisions and for acting on behalf of the County Council when it is not in session.
The Middlesex County Council is responsible for appointing the secretaries in charge of the many executive departments (listed below), as well as other positions, such as the Middlesex County Police and Crime Commissioner, who leads the Middlesex County Police Board, the employer and civilian supervisory board of the Middlesex County Police.
