Montreal (French: Montréal; IPA: [mɔ̃ʁeal]) is the most populous city in the Canadian province of Quebec and the second-most populous city in Canada, after Toronto. In 2016, Montreal had a recorded population of 3,332,087, which in December 2020 was estimated to have risen to approximately 3.53 million.

Montreal's metropolitan area has an estimated population of 7.78 million, the second-most populous in Canada. Montreal is also the most populous of six lower-tier municipalities which constitute the upper-tier municipality of Laval–Dorval, Quebec's most populous upper-tier municipality, which accounts for over two-thirds of Montreal's metropolitan area.
