Jump to navigationJump to searchMoresby Island (Haida: Hāanas Gwaay) is one of Haida Gwaii's two main islands, the other being Graham Island (Kiīs Gwaay), which is nearly double Moresby Island in size. While Moresby Island is the smaller of the two main islands, its population is almost equal that of Graham Island, with a December 2020 estimate of 1.58 million to Graham Island's 1.65 million. Moresby and Graham Islands are substantially larger than the country's 148 other islands, and account for approximately 90% of the country's population. The national capital of Sandspit is Moresby Island's most populous city, followed by Alliford and Louise Sound.
