NOVA III Nuclear Power Station (Arabic: "NOVA III" محطة الطاقة النووية maḥaṭṭat aṭ-ṭāqah an-nũwīyah "nũvã ath-thālithah") is a six-reactor nuclear power plant located to the southeast of the Palestinian city of Tabat Shajara on the eastern shore of the Suez Canal. It is the second-largest nuclear power plant in the Arab Union by amount of energy generated, after the Adra Nuclear Power Station in Syria. The NOVA III plant provides virtually all electricity used by the Suez Canal's ports and other facilities and services and at least 80% of electricity used by the canal's surrounding communities and industry. Construction began in 1993 and the plant was formally opened in March 2001. It is owned and operated by the National Nuclear Energy Agency under the federal government's Ministry of Energy, and employs over 3300 personnel as of 2020.
