The National Police Authority (NPA; Arabic: سلطة الشرطة الوطنية sulṭat ash-shurṭah al-waṭanīyah) is a statutory body of the Arab Union which exists in accordance with the 1999 constitution. It is responsible for overseeing the operations of the National Police of the Arab Union. The NPA consists of a Director-General, the Chief Constable of the National Police, the Deputy Chief Constable responsible for the federal National Police command, and the 22 assistant chief constables, each responsible for one of the union-republican commands—namely, the unique command of each of the republics of the Arab Union, the command of the Kurdistan Autonomous Region, and the command of the Capital metropolitan community (including the federal capital of Nasseria), to whom all remaining police constables are answerable.

The NPA is primarily an administrative body, and as such most of its members are civil servants; however, the NPA does maintain the Professional Standards Directorate, staffed by senior detectives and other constables, which is responsible for enforcing professional standards throughout the National Police including investigating and prosecuting corruption within its ranks.
