Ontario Police Act

The Ontario Police Act, 1977 is an act of the Assembly of Ontario which sets out the responsibilities and structure of all law enforcement agencies responsible to the provincial government of the Canadian province of Ontario (the Ontario Executive Council). The Act is the constituting instrument for both the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) as well as other law enforcement-responsible services such as OPP-managed judicial police and bailiff services as well as the Correctional Services of Ontario.
