Police Constable (abbreviated PC; usually just referred to as Constable) is the lowest officer rank of the Lower Mainland Constabulary (LMC). All police officer cadets who graduate from the Kennedy Police Academy or another accredited Canadian police academy and are hired by the Lower Mainland Police Board, start their career at the LMC as a constable. Constables are the only rank which do not necessarily require any of the five security clearance levels, even the lowest; nevertheless, thousands of roles assigned to constables require one of the lower two or even three security clearances, although this is on a role-by-role basis—no security clearance is actually required to be a ranking police constable.

Police constables are immediately answerable to Sergeants, the next rank immediately above police constable. All officers must follow the orders of their immediate superiors in their unit or of other units when responding to an emergency, which may only be overridden by the orders of higher-ranking officers.
