Powell Street Station is a large police station owned and operated by the Lower Mainland Constabulary (LMC). Located in the Downtown Eastside area of Vancouver, Powell Street Station is the operational headquarters of "C" Division of the LMC's Patrol Directorate and several other LMC units, and also functions as the Lower Mainland regional headquarters of the British Columbia Sheriff Service (BCSS), British Columbia's provincial police. The station is physically attached to the North Fraser County Provincial Court, and has offices used by the BCSS courtroom security and bailiff attaché, as well as the headquarters of the BC Sheriff Service's "M" Division. The two-story basement houses NFCDC Vancouver Central, the largest jail in Vancouver, which is used as an LMC jail to hold and charge arrestees as well as a pretrial remand centre by the BC Sheriff Service; the jail cells are connected securely to the courtrooms above, as is the booking area to the LMC and BCSS offices adjacent to the court complex, and are operated by the North Fraser County Department of Corrections (NFCDC).
