Jump to navigationJump to searchThe Prairies are a region of Canada, consisting of the three provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The most populous provinces is Alberta, whose largest city, Calgary, is the largest prairie city and metropolitan area. The Prairies are known for their almost entirely flat land home to vast farmland, and are the agricultural heart of Canada; most of Canada's domestic oil extraction and refining industry is also concentrated in the Prairies, particularly northern Alberta.
