The Premier of British Columbia, often called the BC Premier or Premier of BC, is the official head of government of the Canadian province of British Columbia (BC). The ceremonial head of state of BC is the Deputy President of British Columbia, who is appointed by the President of Canada on advice of the Premier of BC. The Premier of BC is indirectly elected: the official leader of the political party holding the most seats in the Assembly of BC, or more specifically the most nominated individual by assembly members, is declared Premier of BC and heads the party/and or coalition which legally forms the provincial government.
