Providenciales is the most populous and main island (though only the fourth-largest) within the Caicos Islands archipelago of the Turks and Caicos Islands, a Canadian territory located in the West Indies near the Caribbean Sea, approximately 125 km north of Hispaniola. Providenciales is also the fourth-largest island of the territory, with an area of 98 km2.

Providenciales is home to 155,330 people, nearly two-thirds the total population of the territory; it is also home to Providence, the capital and largest city of the Turks and Caicos Islands, whose metropolitan area covers the great majority of the island of Providenciales. The island has a population density of 1176.84/km2, making it the most densely populated island in the territory and the fifth-most densely populated in Canada.

Providenciales comprises the majority of West Caicos County, which also includes the islands of West Caicos, Iguana Island, Mangrove Cay, Water Cay, Pine Cay, Parrot Cay, Dellis Cay, Stubbs Cay and Fort George Cay; West Caicos County is the most populous of the five counties of the Turks and Caicos.
