In the Canadian Republic, every one of its 12 provinces has a provincial police commissioner, the leader of the respective province's provincial police. For example, the Provincial Police Commissioner of British Columbia leads the British Columbia Provincial Police (BCPP). This is the title used in all 11 English-speaking provinces; in Quebec, the country's only French-speaking province, the leader of the Sûreté du Québec (the Quebec Provincial Police; lit. "Quebec Security") is known as the Directeur-général (Director-General).
