Quebec City
Quebec City (French: Ville de Québec) is the capital and second-most populous city in the Canadian province of Quebec, after Montreal. It is located approximately 200 kilometres northeast of Montreal on the north bank of the Saint Lawrence. In December 2020, Quebec City had an estimated population of 1.77 million and an estimated metropolitan population of 5.21 million, making it the second-most populous city and second-most populous metropolitan area in the province.
Quebec City is the county seat and most populous municipality of Neufchâtel County, one of Quebec's 33 counties; it also consists of the municipalities of Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Sainte-Foy, Charlesbourg, Cap-Rouge, L'Ancienne Lorette, Saint-Émile, Val-Belair and Beauport, which constitute the great majority (about 85%) of Quebec City's metropolitan area.
