Republican congress
In the Union of Arab Republics (UAR; informally the Arab Union), a federation of 20 republics, a republican congress (Arabic: مؤتمر جمهوري mu’tamr jamhūrī; def. pl.: المؤتمرات الجمهورية al-mu’tamrāt al-jamhūrīyah, colloquially simply referred to as a مؤتمر muʾtamr when context is clear) is, according to the Constitution of the Arab Union, the unicameral legislative assembly of any one of the 20 republics (federated states) of the union. Each republican congress is elected every four years by the voters of the respective republic (who must be citizens of the Arab Union aged 18 or above, currently residing in that republic). It is itself responsible for nominating the Governor of the Republic, who goes on to chair and appoint members to the republic's governorate, the executive government of the republic. Each republican congress meets in the capital city of the republic.
