Reserves (Arab Army)
The Arab Army has three separate reserve components established, which are together known unofficially as the Arab Army Reserves (Arabic: احتياط الجيش العربي aḥtiyāṭ al-jaysh al-‘arabī). For example, Arab Army Primary Reserve members at any time can be expected to be called upon to replace an active-duty service member, while Secondary Reserve and especially Tertiary Reserve members are considerably less likely to be conscripted to the regular army, at least not on such short notice. The Army Reserves' three components, which are for the most part separate institutions in peacetime, consist of: the Primary Reserve (788,990 members), the Secondary Reserve (383,775 members), and the Tertiary Reserve (273,575 members), each larger, better equipped and better trained than the next; this adds up to a total of 1,446,330 members (not including civilian employees), higher than the total count of active duty military personnel of the Arab Army.
