Structure[edit | edit source]

  • South Fraser County Correctional Authority: An eleven-member board chaired by the Secretary of Corrections of South Fraser County (a cabinet member of the South Fraser County Council), the SFC Correctional Authority is responsible for drafting, finalising and implementing corrections policy across its area of jurisdiction. It also acts as the supervisory body for other SFCDC directorates/bodies.

Directorates[edit | edit source]

  • Remand Directorate: Administers all institutions within the county which incarcerate individuals who, awaiting trial, were refused bail and are thus being held on remand. Inmates convicted of a crime in which further time in prison is demanded are transferred sooner than later to provincial (or rarely, federal) long-term prisons, meaning that essentially all county prisoners are still on pretrial remand;
  • Juvenile Directorate: An exception to the above are juvenile institutions. While the provincial and federal levels of government do offer juvenile programs, the great majority of persons under 18 years of age who are sentenced to time in a juvenile detention centre are sentenced to county-run centres, meaning that all county juvenile prisons function both as remand centres and long-term prisons. Only the most serious of juvenile offenders can expect to serve in provincially- or federally-run juvenile institutions.
  • Logistics Directorate: Responsible for supplying all SFCDC institutions and programs with necessary resources, including food, toiletries etc. for jails and other institutions, procurement of uniforms and other clothing, and maintenance and replacement of all vehicles and other machines.
  • Tactical Response Directorate: On-the-call special tactics responders, providing special services including immediate access to narcotics-detecting K9 units, efficient yet effective prison riot control, and any other extraordinary needs.

Administrative offices[edit | edit source]

  • SFCDC Budgetary & Orders Office: Responsible for the department's budget and the allocation of resources to specific programs, as per policy outlined by county budget.
  • SFCDC Legal Office: Represents the department legally and in the media.
  • SFCDC Human Resources Office: Responsible for recruiting, hiring, compensating and terminating all employees of the SFCDC, as well as administering workers' comp and other coverage offered by the SFCDC as a government agency.
  • SFCDC Training Academy: Handled all training programs for new SFCDC staff, including correctional officer training.
  • SFCDC Armoury: The part of the department responsible for the safe and responsible storage, logging and maintenance of all firearms and other weapons used by the department. There is no single armoury itself, which each facility having a small-to-medium-sized armoury attached to the guards' main muster stations.
