The Vancouver Metro (known colloquially as the skytrain due to the first two lines' almost exclusive use of above-ground elevated rail except in downtown and other highly dense areas) is a seven-line rapid transit system in the Lower Mainland, the major metropolitan area of the Canadian province of British Columbia, centred on the city of Vancouver, the most populous city in the region. All seven lines originate in the city, linking Downtown Vancouver with the rest of the Lower Mainland, which is also known as Metro Vancouver.
