The Sultah (Arabic: السلطة as-sulṭah; meaning "the authority") is a large neo-futurist office building in Nasser City, which serves as the hheadquarters of the Ministry of Defence of the Arab Union as well as the Military Command Council. Situated on the southwest side of Victory Square in the district of Bab el-Mutasarref, the Sultah was designed by Zaha Hadid and opened in 2005. As the physical centre of the nation's military leadership, the name serves as a metonym for the Ministry of Defence, Union Defence Forces and National Guatd, and by extension the wider Arab defence establishment and military–industrial complex.
