The Last Safe Place

Jump to navigationJump to search"The Last Safe Place" is the national anthem of the Commonwealth of Antilla. It was composed and written in 1955 by Antillan singer-songwriter and guitarist Manta Ray, and was formally adopted as Antilla's national anthem in 1966. The name alludes to Antilla's fame as the earliest Caribbean country to legally abolish slavery, which it did in 1770 while a British colony, bringing about the migration to the islands of thousands of formerly enslaved Africans seeking asylum.
