TransLink (Lower Mainland)
The Lower Mainland Public Transit Authority, doing business and colloquially known as TransLink, is a Crown corporation jointly owned by the six counties proper (administrative counties) of the Lower Mainland. It is responsible for the operation, maintenance and administration of the public transit system of the Lower Mainland, including the extensive system of busses and bus rapid transit, the SkyTrain network of five electrified rapid transit lines, two intercity commuter train lines (the West Coast Express and Howe Sound Express), and the two Seabus routes.
The TransLink Board of Directors is elected equally by the chairperson of each of the six administrative counties' governments (county councils) and the mayor of each of the six counties' incorporated municipalities. The TransLink headquarters, home to the meeting place of the Board of Directors, is located in New Westminster, North Fraser County.
