Turks and Caicos Territorial Police
The Territorial Police Service of the Turks and Caicos Islands (French: Service de police territorial des Îles Turques-et-Caïques), informally known as the Turks and Caicos (Territorial) Police (Service de police (territorial) Turques-et-Caïques), is the primary civilian police agency in the Canadian territory of the Turks and Caicos Islands. It is responsible for territory-wide policing, and also provides municipal policing on a contract basis to the territory's 19 municipalities, including the capital and largest city of Providence which hosts the Turks and Caicos Police headquarters and primary jail complex.
The Turks and Caicos Police has a total of 558 sworn officers and an additional 110 support staff, making it the largest of four civilian law enforcement agencies operating in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The three other law enforcement agencies are the Turks and Caicos Sheriff Service (responsible for upholding security and order in the territory's courts of law, operating all prisons and remand centres in the territory, and transporting detainees and prisoners between courthouses, jails and correctional facilities), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)'s "J Division" (responsible for public security at Providence International Airport and enforcing federal laws in the territory), and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA; responsible for enforcing federal customs and immigration policy, processing international travellers arriving by air or sea and inspecting all inbound international mail and shipments).
The Turks and Caicos Police has an operational fleet of 118 police cruisers (mainly Crown Victorias) used for municipal and rural patrol, 30 Land Rovers used by K9 units for transport and by regular units for off-road patrol, 23 ATVs used for patrolling beaches and natural areas, 20 patrol boats, 2 hovercrafts, 3 Bell 206L police helicopters, and one Bombardier CRJ-200 which is primarily used to transport senior officials of the territorial government and high-ranking dignitaries.
