Jump to navigationJump to searchThe Upper Jordan Authority (Arabic: سلطة أعالي الاردنّ sulṭat a‘ālī al-urdunn) is a combined authority for the Upper Jordan Valley, a metropolitan area centred on Nasser City. It administers multiple shared public services, including water and sewage, waste and sanitation, hydro, road maintenance, firefighting, public housing and public transport (Metrosim). The 15 local governments served by the Authority (14 local councils and the devolved government of Nasser City) each appoint two members to the responsible 30-member special council; the special council elects from amongst itself a chairperson, who chairs council meetings and appoints a chief executive to directly manage the Authority.
