The Vancouver Island Correctional Service (VICS), commonly known as Corrections Vancouver Island, is a government agency answerable to the Solicitor General of Vancouver Island, the second-highest ranking legal official within the provincial government of Vancouver Island, one of the 13 provinces of Canada. Corrections Vancouver Island administers all non-federal prisons, remand centres and other correctional institutions and facilities within the province, as well as the provincial parole and probation program. Transportation of prisoners and detainees between prisons, court and other institutions is instead handled by the separate Vancouver Island Sheriff Service, which also handles the security, bailiff services and some administrative duties of the provincial courts, while regular policing is the responsibility of the Vancouver Island Provincial Police.
