Not to be confused with York Regional Municipality or West York County, an upper-tier municipality and coterminous ceremonial county bordering York County/Toronto on the west.

York County is a ceremonial county in the Canadian province of Ontario. The most populous ceremonial county in Canada, it is coterminous with the single-tier municipality of Toronto, Canada's most populous city and the provincial capital of Ontario.

Like all Canadian ceremonial counties, York County is assigned a count-lieutenant, a ceremonial office mostly responsible for overseeing historical activities in the ceremonial county, such as the designation and preservation of heritage buildings and landmarks, and the granting of endowments to the ceremonial county's official historical society as well as to other local historical societies and relevant non-profit organisations. The Count-Lieutenant of York County is Dr. Asa Orange.
