The Arab Union Army (AUA; Arabic: جيش الاتحاد العربي jaysh al-ittihaad al-arabī) is the regular ground force of the Arab Union, and one of three service branches of the Arab Union Armed Forces. It was founded in 1990 as the Pan-Arab Army, its current form dating from 1994.
The Army is by far the largest service of the armed forces in terms of manpower, and also commands the largest reserve force in the nation, whose personnel may be deployed on active duty during wartime. Due to the Arab Union's experience of multiple wars in the wake of its founding, and an ongoing experience with several layers of anti-government insurgency lasting almost three decades which has not infrequently escalated to regular armed conflict, the Arab Union Army is one of the most battle-tested modern armies. It is headquartered outside Baghdad. Field Marshal Abdul Rahman Khan has been Chief of Staff of the Army since 2009.
