Boroughs of Toronto

Jump to navigationJump to searchThe Toronto Metropolis, the capital city of Canada's most populous province of Ontario, as well as the most populous city in all of Canada, consists of ten boroughs, all of which were at one point or another separate municipalities and/or counties which between the late 1970s and late 1990s were amalgamated into Toronto city proper as boroughs. According to Ontario Law, the ten boroughs are each ceremonial counties of Ontario, but not administrative counties (counties proper) as they do not have their own local governments but are simply geographic divisions of the single-tier municipality that is Toronto.
