Chief Justice of the Arab Union
The Chief Justice of the Arab Union is the common name for the President of the Supreme Court of the Arab Union, which is the highest-ranking justice in the Arab Union. While the title is officially "President of the Supreme Court of the Arab Union" (according to the Constitution of the Arab Union), the title of "Chief Justice of the Arab Union" is much more commonly used in the federal judicial system, as well as within the Arab Congress as a whole and by extension the Presidium of the Arab Congress, the latter of which nominates the Chief Justice to be appointed by the President of the Arab Union on the Presidium's advice. A Chief Justice can be dismissed by the President via executive order, but must be immediately replaced by the President on advice of the nomination of the Presidium of the Arab Congress.
Furthermore, the 10 or so puisne justices subordinate to the Chief Justice of the Arab Union/President of the Supreme Court are always known as a "Deputy Chief Justice", both by convention and according to the constitution. The second-highest ranking justice would be known as "First Deputy Chief Justice", the third-highest ranking the "Second Deputy Chief Justice", and so on. Below the Third (or sometimes Fourth) Deputy Chief Justice, all puisne justices of the Supreme Court of the Arab Union are considered to be of equal rank, immediately subordinate to the Third (or Fourth) Deputy Chief Justice; they are each constitutionally known as an "Assistant Deputy Chief Justice", and their authority is at the discretion of their superiors, including the Deputy Chief Justices or the Chief Justice him/herself.
