Criminal Intelligence Directorate
The Criminal Intelligence Directorate (ادارة المخابرات الجنائية idārat al-mukhābarāt al-jinā’īyah), is a directorate of the Joint Security Committee, the premier security agency of the Arab Union. The directorate is an investigative agency which is responsible for investigating serious crimes which fall under all-union and union-republican jurisdiction, including but not limited to major violent crimes, serial or spree murders, organised crime, and missing persons. The directorate possesses state-of-the-art investigation and forensics technology, and commands multiple specialised departments responsible for criminal intelligence operations and forensic science and pathology as well as financial forensics. The directorate is also responsible for assisting other police and security agencies with major operations. Its uniformed counterpart is the Territorial Police, the only traditional law enforcement agency of the federal government, which is responsible for all other federal law enforcement matters.

The various distinct responsibilities of the directorate are divided amongst multiple subordinate authorities, operational police and security agencies, bureaucratic offices, and scientific institutions:
Departments[edit | edit source]
- Federal Investigative Service: The premier criminal investigations department of the JSC, considered one of the most prolific, effective, and progressive detective's agencies in the Arab Union;
- National Laboratory of Forensic Pathology: The premier crime lab, overseeing a laboratory of world-class technology in the field of forensic pathology as well as a large, highly organised and efficient crime scene forensic investigation department, a department employing cutting-edge facial recognition and reconstruction technology and sophisticated digital and electronic tracking capabilities, and many other departments specialising in all fields of criminal investigational science.
- National Laboratory of Forensic Psychology: The premier agency handling criminal psychology investigations, including behaviour analysis, identifying, tracking and pursuit of serial killers and/or serial rapists, tracking kidnappings and kidnapper(s), and investigation and prevention of other major crimes likely influenced by psychological disturbance, as well as providing consultation with other agencies like the National Police regarding criminal psychology;
- National Service of Criminal Intelligence: The premier agency responsible for identifying, tracking, infiltrating and ultimately destroying major organised crime operations, as well as for maintaining a comprehensive network of informants within the national criminal community;

- Office of Criminal Data: Records and preserves all information obtained by the directorate, and maintains the a connected database;
- Office of Service–to–Service Integration: Integrates operations with other, non-Emni law enforcement agencies;
- Police Technical Office: Procures, produces, and/or maintains all electronic and digital hardware and software used by the directorate.
