Jump to navigationJump to searchTransport Canada (officially the Department of Transportation; French: Département de la Transportation) is an executive department of the Cabinet of Canada, responsible for developing regulations, policies, safe practices, and public services of road, rail, marine and air transportation in Canada. The current Minister of Transport is Rosa Castro Nuñez, in office since 2017. Transport Canada has its headquarters in Ottawa.

- Civil Aviation Authority: Transport Canada's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has existed since 1936, when civil aviation was transferred from the Civil Aviation Branch of the Department of National Defence; it is primarily responsible for aair traffic management, registering civilian general aviation and ensuring the proper qualifications of pilots and other air transport professionals.
Based in Ottawa, the CAA has regional offices across Canada in many geographical regions, with all international airports and many others having a local CAA detachment.
