Economic Security Directorate (Palestine)
The Economic Security Directorate (Arabic: ادارة الامن الاقتصادي idārat al-amn al-iqtiṣādī) is an agency of the Palestinian government which is under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Interior. It is primarily responsible for overseeing and maintaining the security of the nation's economy, namely major nationalised industries such as oil and gas works as well as protecting the economy from sabotage and espionage; its activities, however, are not limited to state industry, including private sectors of the economy such as arms manufacturing and research & development. The directorate has the same law enforcement authority such as powers of arrest as other Ministry of Interior directorates like the Preventive Security Directorate or the Palestine National Police, but operates exclusively within professional workplaces.
Since 2013 the incumbent Director of Economic Security has been Dr. Abu Bakr el-Amen.
