The Golan Heights (Hebrew: רמת הגולן ramat ha-golan; Arabic: هضبة الجولان haḍbat al-jūlān) are a basaltic plateau in the Levant region of the Arab Union, immediately northeast of the Sea of Galilee and east of the River Jordan. Situated on either side of the boundary dividing the republics of Palestine and Syria, the Golan Heights are also nestled between the republics of Lebanon to the north and Jordan to the south.
