Jump to navigationJump to searchJuliet Sauveterre (b. 14 January 1955 in Laval, Quebec) is a Canadian historian and politician, who has served as President of Canada since September 2016. She was formerly a member of the New Democratic Party (NDP), but became an independent politician in 2010. Sauveterre is the first woman to hold the office of president in Canada, and also the first female head of state in North America. In June 2020, Sauveterre won a second four-year term in office, which began in September.
