He immigrated to Canada in 1956 with his wife and children, cofounding the Pacific Northwest franchise of the Sicilian Mafia alongside ten associates in Vancouver the following year, which by 1970 was de facto independent of the Sicily-based organisation, evolving into the modern Auditore organisation. He groomed his firstborn son Beppe (Giuseppe) as his successor, who was killed in 1990; he retired in 1991, and was succeeded by his younger son Salieri.
