Ministry of Interior (Arab Union)
The Ministry of Interior (Arabic: وزارة الداخلية wazārat ad-dākhiliyah, abbr. وزردخل wazradkhil) is the executive department of the Arab Union responsible primarily for public security, overseeing such agencies as the National Police Authority and Directorate of Corrections. While the Ministry of Interior has authority over law enforcement and other matters relating to domestic order, it does not concern itself with border security and immigration, which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Customs and Immigration and the Joint Security Committee.
The Ministry of Interior headquarters faces the southwest corner of El-Kora Gardens, directly across The People's Square in Sultan's Grove, Nasseria, and directly across the River Sharkas and Veterans' Ave from the Ministry of Customs and Immigration headquarters to the north. The incumbent Minister of Interior is Nureddin Jiryis, in office since March 2020.
20 Deputy Ministers of Interior answer directly to the Minister of Interior: each are responsible for the ministry apparatus of one of the 20 republics.
