Monarchy of Rangya

Jump to navigationJump to searchThe Kingdom of Rangya has been ruled since its establishment in the mid-14th century by the House of Li, which traces its origins to a 13th-century South Chinese dynasty by the same name. The dynasty began governing Rangya about 1255 as Southern Ming vassal, becoming de facto independent by 1380. The House of Li was responsible for bringing the Chinese script to Rangya, which was adopted to represent the Rangyan language during the 14th century.
The current ruling monarch of Rangya is Thenbong Kijang, who inherited the throne upon the abdication of his father Thenbong Khyenteng on 20 March 1963.
